Pres. Trump to campaign for midterms in Daytona Beach Friday
WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - President Donald Trump is scheduled to campaign at another midterm rally in Daytona Beach, Fla. on Friday, in one of his final bids to boost Republican voter turnout for the upcoming elections.
The rally is part of the president’s homestretch of midterm events, after the Republican National Committee announced on Thursday that rallies in Kansas and Iowa would be canceled and replaced with a series of “tele-rallies.”
“With Republicans in a strong position in Kansas and Iowa, previously planned in-person rallies in those states will no longer take place as scheduled,” party officials said in a press release.
Republican Gubernatorial candidate and Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) is also expected to attend the rally. He has been leading in recent polls against Democrat David Jolly, but the race is considered close enough to be competitive.
Trump also is expected to stump for Republicans who are running for Congress including Sen. Ashley Moody (R-Fla.) and Rep. Randy Fine’s (R-Fla.), who represents the Daytona Beach area.
Republicans hold 20 out of the 28 House seats in the state. That number may increase after the elections because of recent redistricting efforts.
