Charlottesville superintendent proposes elementary school zone changes
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - The superintendent of Charlottesville City Schools has announced a plan for changing elementary school zones.
According to a CCS news release, the recommendations for rezoning aim to “prevent overcrowding while also balancing socioeconomic diversity across schools.”
The schedule for implementing the proposed zones takes place between 2027 and 2029 to minimized the number of students who would have to change schools, according to the news release.
The school district will hold a Q&A for the public and opportunities for the public to comment through February with a tentative vote scheduled for its March 27 meeting, according to the news release.
CCS has further details on the zoning proposal as well as an interactive map on its website.
