CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - The Charlottesville Albemarle SPCA (CASPCA) is celebrating a huge milestone through its Community Cat Program.

Since its creation in 2011, CASPCA says it has led to a 46% reduction in feline stray intake.

All cats in the Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program get spayed, neutered, and microchipped.

Fewer homeless cats mean the CASPCA can focus its resources on serving more needy animals.

”It’s really important for us to control our feline population,” Director of Communications for CASPCA Luke Waldron said. “Feline cats can produce at a high quantity so we want to make sure we can serve the community of the cats we have and this program lets us do that.”

Community cats can be dropped off for surgery at the CASPCA Wednesday through Friday from 7:15 a.m. to 8 a.m.

The CASPCA will not have TNR surgeries on Friday, May 31, Friday, June 7, or Wednesday, June 12.
