Rep. Vindman introduces legislation to pause federal taxes at gas pump

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Seventh District Representative Eugene Vindman is pushing for gas and diesel cost relief, introducing the Diesel Prices Relief Act and co-sponsoring two other gas bills.

If passed, Vindman said the legislation would pause the federal gas and diesel tax. For diesel, the tax adds about 24 cents per gallon.

Vindman said a pause would provide some relief until the war ends and prices go back to normal.

“Virginians need some respite from skyrocketing fuel costs, and I’m proud to lead the charge here,” Vindman said. “But we won’t get permanent or long term relief until we can get a solution in the Middle East.”

Vindman maintains that the war with Iran is one of choice that must end immediately.
