ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (WHSV) - A special education bus carrying four people crashed Tuesday morning in Rockingham County along Route 33.

The crash happened just past Valley Doors Unlimited in Penn Laird.

According to Director of Transportation for Rockingham County Public Schools Chris Sours, the bus was carrying two students, a transportation aide, and the driver.

There were no serious injuries reported, but everyone on board was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

“The students remained safely secured in their wheelchairs and all passengers were properly restrained at the time of the accident,” Sours said in a statement.

The crash remains under investigation. Sours said RCPS will continue to cooperate fully and review all safety procedures as part of their standard process for any transportation incident.

This is a developing story.
