Three escape safely after garage fire in Albemarle County

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - Three adults made it out safely after a fire broke out in a detached garage Sunday afternoon in Albemarle County.

Albemarle County Fire Rescue says crews were called to the 900 block of Wolf Trap Road around 1:03 p.m. When the first unit arrived about 12 minutes later, firefighters found smoke coming from the garage at a single-story home.

The three adults who were home got out on their own. No injuries were reported, and no residents were displaced.

The Albemarle County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.

Fire officials are reminding families to keep working smoke alarms in their homes, know two ways out and practice an escape plan. More resources are available online.
