GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN/Gray News) - A former Greenville police officer pleads guilty to child pornography possession

On Wednesday, Dominic Olivares pleaded guilty in court to two counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

Six other counts, including first- and second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.

Olivares received two consecutive suspended sentences of six to 17 months, meaning he’ll avoid prison unless he violates the terms of his eight years of supervised probation.

The judge did order him to serve 100 days in jail under the state’s Misdemeanant Confinement Program, and he will have to register as a sex offender.

Olivares was arrested in September 2025 by the SBI for two counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, three counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, and three counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

Arrest warrants were issued at the time that Olivares used a 16-year-old girl to create videos with her engaged in sexual activity.

The 30-year-old Olivares was hired as a police officer in Greenville in May 2020.

A spokeswoman says he was fired on Aug. 5, 2021, two months after the SBI was brought in to investigate a complaint the department received about Olivares.
