York Confections opens new sweet spot in Standardsville
GREENE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - York Confections chocolate shop celebrated its grand opening in Stanardsville Saturday morning, May 9.
“I wanted to kind of bring this little European taste of Europe but to Shenandoah Mountains and incorporate some of the local products like honey, our local wine berries,” said Angela York, owner of York Confections. “To purchase as much local as we can and incorporate that into our products and bring in the community for a place to gather and just have a little bite of chocolate joy.”
For owner and pastry chef York, the shop marks a transition from farmers market stands to a brick-and-mortar store, creating a permanent location to share her passion for pastries with the community.
The opening included a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Greene County welcoming the truffle-filled shop to the area’s local businesses.
“I am beyond thankful,” York said. “We are super excited and can’t wait to share our passion with everyone.”
York Confections is open Thursday through Sunday each week, at 4468 Spotswood Trail in Stanardsville.
York said the shop will also feature dairy-free, vegan, and diabetic-friendly treats.
