CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - The U.S. Senate once again struck down Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine’s war powers resolution, but he plans to reintroduce the measure until there is peace between the U.S. and Iran.

“We need to find a diplomatic solution, not a war solution to this challenge,” Kaine said. “We need to remember that the Straits of Hormuz were open and oil prices were normal on February 27, until Donald Trump made the unilateral decision to take us into a war of choice.”

Kaine pointed to the loss of life on both sides of the war as the main need for a lasting and immediate resolution.
