Charlottesville women in tech group gets first paid director after decade of volunteer work
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - For over a decade, the organizations Charlottesville Women in Business and Tech-Girls have been working to recruit and retain women working in technology.
For years, the entire operation was volunteer run. Now, a grant is changing that.
“We’re really excited about that for receiving that grant from the Rota Foundation and what we plan to do with it mainly in they brought me on to be the executive director,” said Trae Turner, the organization’s new executive director.
Turner says dozens of women attend their events, and they hope to grow their reach even further as the industry expands in Charlottesville.
The grant represents a significant milestone for the organization, which works to connect women in technology through networking events, mentorship opportunities and professional development programs.
With Turner now leading the organization in a paid capacity, the group plans to expand its programming and outreach efforts to serve more women entering or advancing in the tech field.
