Father run over, allegedly by children’s mother, at Easter party: ‘Only God knows your punishment’
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC/Gray News) - Police in Alabama are investigating the death of a father who was allegedly intentionally run over by his children’s mother during an Easter celebration.
Police say a woman intentionally drove into 27-year-old Mickese James Bostic during an Easter celebration and birthday party for his daughter Sunday night in Birmingham. Responding officers found Bostic wedged between a vehicle and a home, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, WBRC reports.

The suspect, who was taken into custody at the scene, is the mother of Bostic’s children, according to police. Investigators believe some of those children witnessed his death.
Police say the fatal incident followed a domestic argument that escalated to the suspect getting a gun and firing shots inside the home. After she and Bostic left the home, she allegedly got into a vehicle and ran him over.
Family members are heartbroken over the loss of Bostic, describing him as a man with a big heart and a provider who worked nonstop to provide for his children. They say Bostic had three children with the suspect, but he considered her other two children like his own.
“You know a long time ago they said it’s a few good men left? He was one of them. He was going to provide for his family, and he was going to do the things he needed to do for his family,” said Brenda Frazier, one of Bostic’s aunts.
The hours following Bostic’s death were a nightmare for his family members, and they are still trying to process how someone could do something so cruel.
“She would do him so cruelly and so wrong. It’s not fair. It’s not right, but he’s a good person. He’s truly going to be missed,” said Rosemary Adekpo, another of Bostic’s aunts.
Police say they will provide the suspect’s name and a mugshot when she is formally charged.
“There’s no need to cry now. Only God knows your punishment,” said Adekpo regarding the suspect.
A spokesperson for Jefferson County said Bostic had worked with them for almost nine years, including as an officer for juvenile court. His aunts say he began working with the county as soon as he graduated high school.
A spokesperson for the county released the following statement: “This is obviously an extremely difficult time for his family, friends, and colleagues. We are praying for all involved.”
