UVA Health honors organ donors

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - A colorful display is turning heads outside UVA Health’s West Complex, and it’s all for a good cause.

About 1,800 pinwheels now fill the lawn as part of UVA Health’s celebration of Donate Life Month.

Each pinwheel is meant to represent the lives that were saved or enhanced through organ, eye, and tissue transplants at UVA.

UVA Health is home to Virginia’s only comprehensive transplant center, performing more than 7,500 transplants over the last five decades.
