Open House planned for Oak Lawn property

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - UVA Health wants the community’s input on what to do with a historic site it aquired over a year ago.

The purchase includes five acres at the intersection of Cherry Avenue and 9th Street Southwest.

UVA Health is partnering with the Fifeville Neighborhood Association to host an open house at the Oak Lawn estate from 12-2 pm on Saturday, April 12.

UVA Health said it is leaning towards providing some sort of childcare there, but are still in the early stages of planning.

It also wants to hear what sort of programming people want neighborhood association to host an open house at the Oak Lawn estate.

“That could include things like job training, wellness activities, a community gathering space, cooking classes, green spaces, just as some examples of what that could be,” UVA spokesperson Eric Swensen said.

The health system’s goal is to wrap up the planning stage on this development by the end of the summer.
