UVA researchers uncover new method for cancer detention, therapy
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Researchers at University of Virginia Medical School are discovering new ways to use genetics to treat diseases.
The team of researchers studied something called condensates, and found this tool can be used to detect cancer earlier.
The discovery could also be applied to developing individually tailored therapies.
“By understanding how and where condensates form and how they interact with the DNA, we can deepen our understanding of the the mechanisms of cancer especially how the genes goes wrong to make the normal cell become cancer cells,” said researcher Dr. Chongzhi Zang.
Zang said this research is the first of its kind and used data science to advance cancer treatment.
