CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - University of Virginia sophomore guard Kymora Johnson made history on Sunday recording only the third triple-double in UVA women’s basketball history in Virginia’s 80-67 win at Pittsburgh.

The Charlottesville native and former St. Anne’s-Belfield star scored 20 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and had a career-high 11 assists.

It’s the first triple-double in program history since 1991 when Dawn Staley did it twice.

Johnson etched her name in the record books Sunday grabbing three rebounds in the final quarter.

“My teammates hinted at it, at one point, they said just get five more rebounds or something. I didn’t really put it together but then I was like ok,” says Johnson. “I’m just really blessed to be in good company. Dawn Staley, everybody knows who that is when you say her name. I’m just blessed to have this opportunity, blessed to be in the books and blessed to have teammates achieve this feat.”

Johnson and Latasha Lattimore scored 17 of Virginia’s 19 points in the fourth quarter Sunday leading the ‘Hoos to the win and helping the team improve to 5-9 in the ACC.

Virginia plays host to Cal on Thursday.
