PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP/Gray News) - The highest point in West Virginia may be given a new name.

On Friday, West Virginia delegates introduced Resolution 33 which proposes recognizing the tallest point in the state, Spruce Knob, to be named Trump Mountain, honoring the accomplishments of President Donald Trump.

Spruce Knob has an elevation of 4,863 feet.

The bill states that the name change would honor President Trump’s service to the state, his impact on the nation and the loyalty of the people of West Virginia.

“Spruce Knob symbolizes strength, endurance and resilience - qualities that epitomize the leadership and perseverance demonstrated by President Trump during his time in office,” delegates shared with the bill’s introduction.

Resolution 33 was introduced in part by the lead sponsor of the bill Republican Delegate Elias Coop-Gonzalez as Spruce Knob is in his district that includes Pendleton County.

The bill mentions the large amount of Trump supporters in the state along with the work he has done to benefit not only West Virginians but all United States citizens.
