Students look to the future in career program

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - The Equity Center’s Starr Hill Pathways Summer Camp hosted an expo at the John Paul Jones Arena, on Friday, June 28.

The camp is to help students figure out what path they want to take before they graduate high school.

The expo featured what rising seventh, eighth, and ninth-graders learned for the last two weeks.

Eighth grader, Lena Gunnell, a student with Starr Hill Pathways, learned about robotics.

“We’ve been creating robots and using them in a competition called Mountain Mayhem,” Gunnell said. “It’s been a really fun experience. The people who work there were really helpful and they helped me get through problems and stuff.”

Culinary arts, performing arts, and architecture were also some of the things students presented at the expo.
