iTHRIV scholarship program helps UVA researchers learn new skills
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) -The Integrated Translational Health Research Institute of Virginia, or iTHRIV, is bringing new skills and experiences to University of Virginia scientists.
“We create a bunch of opportunities for these new faculty to learn how to be competitive and writing grant applications, how to do clinical translational research,” Jason Papin with UVA Health said.
He says the iTHRIV scholarship program covers many different areas.
“We support the development of these faculty in neurology working on Alzheimer’s disease, people working in problems related to obesity and cancer,” Papin said.
Papin says the research goes beyond the walls of the university.
“Here in Charlottesville, these are diseases that affect people, all kinds of people that we know. To be able to have these experts here close to us, that are really pushing that forefront of what medicine can do and supporting the health care helping to cure these really debilitating diseases,” Papin said.
