CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - A UVA Health professional is sharing the challenges it comes with using your voice extensively throughout the day.

Doctor James Daniero says teachers, singers, and others are more prone to injure their vocal cords.

UVA Health Voice and Swallowing Clinic helps rehabilitate patients that suffer from voice problems.

Dr. Daniero says water, diet, and regulating the use of your vocal cords can also help.

“We take it for granted, our voice being there every day. But if you’ve ever been sick, and you’ve lost your voice, you can know how much that impairs your ability to do anything, ” Daniero said.

Daniero has a concert from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at Eastwood Farm and Winery to raise money for the Music Health Alliance.
