High school students get inside look at nursing school

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - A group of high school students paid a visit to the University of Virginia’s School of Nursing for a chance to learn what nursing school may be like.

The Dare to Dream event was hosted by UVA’s Diversity and Nursing for a Better Community.

Students took part in nursing simulations, science labs, anatomy workshops, and tours.

They also have a chance to talk with nursing students at UVA about their experiences and hopefully inspire them to take the next step.

“Instilling or having them see representation at an early age is very valuable,” UVA nursing student Nakayla Figgins said, “It just takes one person for them to see like themselves that they really can belong in this field. That’s what we are trying to do here today.”

The group consisted of nearly 40 high school students and their parents.
