Cavaliers spending time with patients at UVA Medical Center
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - UVA student-athletes are taking time to connect with the community.
Members of the basketball team took some time off the court Wednesday, March 6, to visit with patients at the UVA Medical Center. Cavaliers signed autographs and gave out hats, blankets, and mini basketballs as they made the rounds.
“We just want to be a bright spot for them and just, you know, bring joy,” Reece Beekman said.
“Just being able to bring smiles to the faces of people who are dealing with, you know, certain things that are very tough,” CavFutures Foundation Executive Director Lo Davis said.
Davis says this is the first time the team has been able to do this, and hopes it becomes a regular thing.
“Sometimes we don’t realize how much influence we have... how much joy we bring to people here. So, just to see that person, that means a lot,” Beekman said.
