New restaurant taking over former Shebeen space
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - A new restaurant is taking over the space where The Shebeen used to be in Charlottesville.
Siren is slated to open Thursday, December 9. Its menu is American and Mediterranean seafood-focused.
Owner and Executive Chef Laura Fonner says she has always wanted her own restaurant, but just hadn’t found the right spot until she found this location.
“It just felt kind of like home. It’s one of those moments where you’re not sure what you’re looking for, but when you find it, you feel it, and then that was the space. It’s got so much character and so much history, and it really filled me in,” Fonner said.
Fonner and her family renovated the place themselves and she says each piece of décor has a purpose.
Siren is part of the Champion Hospitality Group, and will be open six nights a week and for Sunday brunch.
