80-year-old Charlottesville veteran locks self to signpost outside White House in protest

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - An 80-year-old Vietnam veteran from Charlottesville locked himself to a signpost outside the White House to protest cuts to the Department of Veterans' Affairs.
Richard Hobcraft Allen III had his hands inside a pipe Monday, March 10, that read “KING TRUMP & PRES. MUSK ARE KILLING VETERANS.”
He called the demonstration and appetizer for a veterans' march against Trump on Friday, March 14.
Allen said he was proud to face arrest in the name of his fellow veterans, but Metropolitan Police actually let him stay.
